We recently received this lovely project from London based Decoratum. Designed by Thomas Pederson, the Stingray is a modern chair with an appealing design. According to the the press release we were sent, the product “is a futuristic take on the classic rocking chair design, using inspiration from the stingray fish to breathe new life into a traditional furniture item. The chairs feature a chrome frame supporting a pigmented lacquer wood seat and leather neck cushion. The chairs are available to purchase for £2,950-£3,950, and are on show at Decoratum in Marylebone, London. This striking design won Denmark’s highest design honor – the Danish Design Prize – in 2008/09. The jury commented not only on the chair’s stylish design, but also its surprising comfort. The chair was also chosen for the international Red Dot Design Award for innovative design, and the highly prestigious Best in Show award at the Cologne International Furniture Fair in Cologne“. Do you feel its design makes up for the enormous price tag?
