Manchester show organisers confirmed for new NEC event
The January Furniture Show, NEC, will be organised by the people behind the Manchester Furniture Show, Laraine Janes and Theresa Raymond (also organisers of the Bed Show on behalf of the National Bed Federation).
Following last week’s announcement that the NEC will host a new furniture show from 18-20th January in 2015, the team has announced the new show title and organisers.
The January Furniture Show, NEC, will be organised by the people behind the Manchester Furniture Show, Laraine Janes and Theresa Raymond (also organisers of the Bed Show on behalf of the National Bed Federation).
Working with the NEC, the aim will be to produce a more commercially-viable exhibition to embrace the whole of the furniture industry.
“We are confident that with Laraine and Theresa’s unrivalled commitment to the industry spanning many years and their industry connections, combined with their exhibition know-how, we can build the January Furniture Show back to its position of strength,” says Stephen Richards, who launched The Furniture Show with the Blenheim Group in the early Nineties and is now sales director of the NEC.
“We will be looking at key issues such as the space rates and the length of the open period, as well as the effective size of the show.
“The industry can have absolute confidence that the NEC will continue to be the home of the furniture trade in January, the right place to meet your retail customers from across the UK, and at the key point in the furniture buying calendar.”
The new organisers add: "We are delighted to have secured the tenancy at the NEC for 2015. There are still a few details to be ironed out, but there will be a January show in 2015. The rumour mill has been working overtime this week, so we felt it best to declare our hand.
"We have been overwhelmed by the level of support from exhibitors at this week's show. We will be going back to basics, offering a furniture show that is competitively priced, at a time of year when retailers are buoyant following the January sales.
"So, the status quo of NEC in January and Manchester in July will remain for many years to come."
Laraine and Theresa have collectively worked in the furniture industry for over 60 years, delivering furniture shows across many major venues.
