This year's Piedmont Furniture Club golf tournament will honor Harold Hart, distributor and owner of Hart Furniture in Siler City, N.C.

Hart started his career buying, repairing and selling secondhand furniture while in high school and later became active in his parents' upholstery business, buying and selling chairs, rockers, and Sealy mattresses. This led to the establishment of Hart Furniture in 1969, which occupies approximately 37,500 square feet of showroom and warehouse space.

Hart was diagnosed with leukemia in December at age 70 but he continues to be involved in the business while fighting cancer.

The tournament, in its 27th year, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21 at High Point Country Club - Willow Creek.
