Portugal’s Export Home goes biennial

Portugal’s Export Home – Furniture, Lighting and Household Goods for Export exhibition celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and becomes a biennial event that will take place only on odd-numbered years. This new positioning also includes a partnership with Interdecoração – Home, Hotel, Decoration and Gift, to be held simultaneously with Export Home, from 7-10th February, at Exponor, Porto.

The stated goal of this new model is to provide the best conditions for creating business opportunities. According to Filipe Gomes, director of the venue’s Home, Decoration and Design division, it “responds to the market’s needs and meets Exponor clients’ expectations”.

Export Home will feature many of the leading Portuguese furniture and lighting manufacturers, while Interdecoração boasts suppliers and producers for the house and home, decoration and gift sector. “We improve the product by focusing the offer,” says Filipe.

As its name suggests, the event’s emphasis is on international trade. It aims to impress upon visitors the capacity of the Portuguese manufacturing industry, and the quality and the price of its furniture.
While reinforcing investment in traditional markets such as France and Russia, the event’s organiser is constantly seeking to broaden the show’s appeal in new markets. Its international buyer programme, says Filipe, “is a targeted programme tailored to Export Home, which aims to reduce the gap between supply and demand”.
