LAS VEGAS — The World Market Center here is putting the spotlight on bedding at its upcoming market.
Several events are on tap to highlight the mattress category, a strongly represented segment at this market. A "Dream Big" display that will take over the Grand Plaza and a new "Get Your Z's" promotion will award one lucky attendee with a dream vacation.
The WMC's "Dream Big" market week will feature a courtyard display of the latest products and sleep innovations from Serta, Five Star Mattresses, Kingsdown, Pure Latex Bliss, Leggett & Platt, Natura, Sleep Harmony by Glideway and Spring Air. That showcase is in addition to the hundreds of new products that will be on display in 80-plus mattress and supplier showrooms at World Market Center, including Comfort Solutions by King Coil, Magniflex, Organic Mattresses Inc., Sealy, Simmons, Tempur-Pedic North America, and the Specialty Sleep Assn., among others. .
In addition to being introduced to the newest sleep and bedding innovations and designs, market attendees also will enjoy an opening reception on Monday night complete with cozy surroundings, a comfort-food menu and a live performance that blends Las Vegas entertainers choreographed with mattress merriment. The performances, inspired by the Emmy-winning television show Glee, will also run on Monday and Tuesday in the Grand Plaza.
The "Get Your Z's" promotion calls on buyers and retailers to collect a "Z" by visiting participating showrooms or booths. Collected "Z's" may be scanned with a smartphone and redeemed at the "Get Your Z's" information booth in the Grand Plaza. The buyer who collects the most "Z's" (one per showroom) will win a five-star, all-expenses paid dream vacation. The winner will be announced after Winter Market and need not be present to win the grand prize. Buyers can check listings on-site for participating showrooms.
"Las Vegas Market is the undisputed epicenter for the mattress industry, where virtually every supplier formally introduces their newest bedding designs, products and technologies," said Robert Maricich, CEO of the World Market Center. "The ‘Dream Big' program for our Winter Market is designed to elevate one of the most important categories in Las Vegas with exciting promotional events that drive a substantial amount of traffic to our mattress showrooms."
During 2011 Winter Las Vegas Market week, attendees are invited to take part in the following panel discussions and presentations focusing on the bedding market:
Bedding Outlook Report: Presented by Furniture/Today and World Market Center Las Vegas, Tues., Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m. This will be a panel discussion with key mattress suppliers and retailers, who will join Furniture/Today Executive Editor Dave Perry in reviewing and interpreting the newspaper's 2011 bedding outlook.
Save Money, Maximize Your Communications Outreach: Presented by the Better Sleep Council and World Market Center Las Vegas, Tues., Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. BSC leaders will host a discussion on how retailers can incorporate Suite 7, the BSC's newest web series promoting the importance of a good night's sleep, as well as other social media platforms into successful and cost-effective communications outreach plans.
