From January to June, our country’ s textile product exports amounted to US$15.56 billion, an increase of 54% over the same period last year and an increase of 22.4% over the same period in 2019. The export scale reached a record high.

At the same time, the export of home textile products accounted for 11% of the total export of textile and apparel products, which was 42 percentage points higher than the growth rate of the overall export of textiles and apparel, effectively stimulating the recovery of the overall export growth of the industry. Among them, the export of curtains, carpets, blankets and other categories maintained rapid growth, with an increase of more than 60%, and the export of kitchen supplies and table textiles grew relatively slowly, between 28% and 42%.

Importers maintain optimistic sales expectations, but sales have declined month-on-month.

In July, the National Retail Federation (NRF) raised its full-year retail forecast for 2021. It is estimated that in 2021, the US market retail sales will increase by 10.5% to 13.5% over 2020, between 4.44 trillion and 4.56 trillion US dollars, which is about 5 percentage points higher than the previous forecast announced in February.

In the same period, data released by the US Department of Commerce showed that the monthly sales of household goods and furniture in the United States declined compared to the previous month. Its sales in June were 11.83 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 3.6% from the revised May retail sales of 12.27 billion U.S. dollars. The U.S. Department of Commerce announced the largest decline in various commodities, but the overall retail situation has stabilized.

In addition, with the gradual easing of the global epidemic, offline transactions are expected to resume operation, helping the global trade market to resume prosperity. In July, the American Home Textiles Association announced that the New York Home Textile Market Weekly offline activities will be resumed from this fall, while maintaining the online platform, taking into account the exhibition needs of suppliers and retailers who cannot go to New York to participate in the ordering activities due to travel restrictions. Domestically, the autumn Guangzhou Commodity Fair is also preparing to be held online and offline at the same time.
