An unmanned bookstore with a usable area of 178 square meters was opened in Shenzhen, south China’s Guangzhou province, on July 18, the Nanfang Metropolis Daily reported.

It is the first unmanned bookstore in Shenzhen and the largest of its kind in the country. Customers can enter the bookstore by scanning a code. They can also find the precise location of a book and complete payments through Tencent's WeChat Pay or Alibaba’s Alipay.

Other smart equipment such as a smart advertising machine, a smart beverage serving counter and a product display system also help bring the charm of both culture and technology to readers.
