The Artful Lodger's art wins American Leather sofa

The Artful Lodger, a Charlottesville, Va., furniture retailer, was the winner of a sofa-drawing contest staged by American Leather during the April High Point Market.
The contest, named The World Is Your Canvas, invited showroom visitors to decorate a white Menlo Park sectional with hand-drawn logos and slogans. The company said The Artful Lodger's rendering of a bird perched on a red sofa took the top award.
The store received a four-piece Menlo Park sectional - without any artwork - as its prize.
"Being a design-focused industry, High Point Market is the perfect setting to see just how creative our customers and colleagues can be," said American Leather President Bruce Birnbach. "It's exciting to see all the creative - and very talented - entries from market visitors, which turned our sectional into a work of art."
Birnbach said the "finished masterpiece" will be on display in the showroom during the October market.
Caroline Minsky, who, along with her husband, Christopher, owns The Artful Lodger, joked that "art school has finally paid off."
But on a more serious note, she said the Menlo Park is a great addition to their showroom.
"As one of American Leather's more celebrated contemporary designs (it) is a show stopping, beautiful piece that promoted lounging and entertaining in true comfort and style," she said.
