Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas has begun to take shape in this Dallas suburb, with workers using a 250-ton crane to raise the first of 412 wall panels.

The project, which will include a 560,000-square-foot retail showroom and a 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center, is scheduled to open in spring 2015.

Nebraska Furniture Mart officials say they expect the store, the company's first foray into Texas, will become the largest volume home furnishings store in North America. In addition to furniture and bedding, its product lineup will include flooring, appliances and consumer electronics.

The retailer says it's the first major anchor tenant in Grandscape, a $1.5 billion, 433-acre retail and home entertainment destination development along the south side of West Spring Creek Parkway and Plano Parkway.
