In pure Living Divani spirit, the company’s proposal for 2011 is marked by discretion, refinement,comfort and evocativeness. A combination of classic and linear shapes, colour schemes that alternate harmoniously subtle hues with dark, resolute accents, and carefully studied materials,setting fine woods alongside clean, flowing fabrics. This sophisticated, contemporary proposal comprises different elements working together, and it is seen at its finest in the Salone del Mobile presentation.

A neutral box, enclosed in a mesh of grey-painted sheet metal, forms a container for the new proposals from Piero Lissoni, Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, Victor Vasilev, Francesco Rota, Harry&Camila, all of which can boast a style that perfectly balances precision design, harmonious forms, grace,simplicity and accuracy of details.

Piero Lissoni’s Chromatic sofa is essential yet comfortable; the sharp lines of its slender wooden structure leave plenty of room for the snug comfort of the seat cushions. Also by Lissoni are the armchairs that draw upon our memories, casting a knowing wink at classic archetypes and translating their sentimental, emotional, and aesthetic components into a contemporary key.“Things seen but forgotten”, as Piero Lissoni defines them.

ABC, in perfect balance between tradition and modernity, partners design simplicity with soft,rounded lines. Gray focuses on empty geometric shapes: its extremely clean lines and delicate shapes form an essential whole. The backrest is large and comfortable and the armrests extend to half the depth of the seat, giving an almost geometric tone.

Marquise features clean, square shapes and offers a new interpretation of familiar, reassuring shapes. Another example of the present interpreting the past is Confident, with its rounded lines and its seat shell that gives shape to the back and arms, offering the snuggest of comfort.

Chauffeuse renews and re-presents the form that is, in our memory, “the definitive armchair”:comfortable, roomy, reassuring.

NeoWall expands the range, with a system of modular upholstery featuring linear elements of different sizes. It gives priority to the proportions of the individual elements and their overall harmony, in addition to the comfort of the seating. Furthermore, the modules can be combined to form compositions ideal for any space, both in their dimensions and in their aesthetic characteristics.

The clear lines and shapes, the design defined by the company’s art director and architect, comfort as an absolute requirement, give a collection that once again fits perfectly into the Living Divani range, adding elegance, calibre and discretion to the landscape of the modern home.

Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga’s offering is Reader, a revisitation of a bergère chair and a lounge chair, with a markedly retro feel but a modern spirit, softening shapes and volumes to achieve the ultimate in relaxation. Its perfect proportions make for a cosy, comfortable shape. Suitable for any living area. Features a steel base with four legs. Made with craftsmanlike care and attention to detail that further enhance the clean style sought by the designer. The version with a pouf maximises its versatility. Covering in leather or in the fabrics of our collection.

Bukva by Victor Vasilev is a sculpture-bookcase. It comprises a series of square, detached and tangent elements. They are closed in the front, giving the initial impression of a work of art hanging on the wall. Books and other objects can be housed inside the modules, where they are not immediately visible.

Francesco Rota has created Wing, a light steel-structured seat, with a highly distinctive and graphic design for the legs, whilst a fine, padded membrane on the seat and backrest offers particularly comfortable support in deliberately and playfully re-proportioned shapes. An essential seat with classic tastes, suitable both for contract and domestic settings.

Completing the range for 2011, for the very first time, a collection of rugs designed by Harry&Camila.Three are hand-knotted and carded, two are tufted – hand-woven without knots – and come in two different colour options. The distinguishing features of these rugs include the materials used – wools and silks – their harmony, shapes and colours, their taste, the combination of graphic or archetypal elements revisited in a contemporary key, such as we can see in Ceci n’est pas un Baroque and Arabian Geometric. Growing Points depicts little circles, some larger, some lighter,scattered in an apparently random fashion. In Drippy, graphic lines, dotted here, solid there, form a clear, monochromatic edge, while Ice Flower features stylised blossoms.

The range from Living Divani remains true to its character and values of simplicity and elegance on the one hand, while on the other, it is the bearer of a coherent extension of the concept of living. The need to lighten, to simplify, in the sense of encapsulating and defining the new priorities governing modern life, suggests an experience of luxury and intimacy, conviviality and comfort. The latter is reinterpreted in cutting-edge creative styles, following a path that leads to the rediscovery of a classic vein and becomes an expression of it. Indeed Living Divani proposes a balanced design that embraces technological innovation, blending past and future, senses and emotions.

Touch is accentuated by tactile fabrics and surfaces. The symbolic and evocative power of memory reclaims the icons of the past, projecting them into the future. This leads to the identification of new and different uses for materials, the reinterpretation of the shapes and styles of the past, which in turn results in the creation of complete rooms, where different decors are blended and playfully coordinated in an ever-evolving dialogue. The idea behind proposing non-matching armchairs, carpets and a bookcase is this: that we can, on the one hand, define and harmonise contemporary interiors, and on the other, propose decor solutions that, for all their diversity, create complete interiors in an exchange that crosses established boundaries.
