NEW YORK — Five Singapore furniture manufacturers will debut at the 22nd International Contemporary Furniture Fair, which opens here Saturday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The companies include case goods and upholstery producer Air Division Pte Ltd., office furniture specialist Office Planner Pte Ltd., modern living room furniture specialist 1degOFF by Bomania Designworx, contemporary seating and modular furniture source Mad Scientists Pte Ltd. and oon, a designer of modern living room furniture.

The companies are representing Singapore Mozaic, an initiative created by the Singapore Furniture Inds. Council to promote Singapore-based design leaders. The New York fair runs through May 18.

In a statement, SFIC President Andrew Ng said that the debut appearance by these companies will open them up to new markets and help them compete with global players in contemporary furniture.

"The ICFF is an internationally reputed fair where one can find unique exhibits showcasing the latest trends in furniture design," he said. "Our exhibiting furniture companies have an excellent combination of experience, flair for design and production capabilities, giving them an edge in creating a diversity of quality products for the international market."

An estimated 500 companies will show at the ICFF, which is expected to draw about 24,000 trade visitors.

The Singapore Pavilion will be in booth 1866. The pavilion was organized by SFIC, International Enterprise Singapore and the DesignSingapore Council.
