Vietnam and Malaysia become the largest U.S. exporter of wooden kitchen furniture
Vietnam’ s exports increased by 117.4%, making it the largest exporter of wooden kitchen furniture in the United States.
On August 8, the research institute IndexBox released the latest report showing that China’ s exports of wooden kitchen furniture to the United States dropped sharply due to tariffs, while Vietnam and Malaysia quickly seized this market.
In 2020, the number of kitchen wooden furniture imported into the United States surged to 52 million pieces, an increase of 22% over 2019. In terms of value, total imports for the year amounted to US$1.9 billion.
In addition to Vietnam and Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico and other countries have also increased their exports of wooden kitchen furniture to the United States at a very high rate.
In 2020, Vietnam has become the largest exporter of wooden kitchen furniture in the United States, with exports increasing from 224 million U.S. dollars to 487 million U.S. dollars, a soaring 117.4%. Malaysia' s exports, which ranked second, increased by 180.4% to US$415 million.
Indonesia' s exports increased the most, from 13 million to 103 million U.S. dollars, which surged 692.3%.
Due to the levy of tariffs on wooden kitchen furniture imported from China, the value of imports dropped sharply from US$831 million to US$132 million.
