Tempur-Sealy' s second quarter net income increased by more than 500%

The company' s net income in the second quarter was US$140 million, an increase of 512% from US$23 million in the same period last year.

On July 29, Tempur-Sealy announced the second quarter earnings report as of June 30.


The financial report shows that the company' s net income in the second quarter was 140 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 512% from 23 million U.S. dollars in the same period last year.


Net sales in North America increased by 75.2% to US$1.014 billion, of which net sales in wholesale channels increased by 77.2% year-on-year to US$891 million.


Compared with the second quarter of 2020, North America’ s net sales through direct channels increased by US$47.2 million, or 62.3%, to US$123 million. The company said that the increase in net sales across all channels was due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in the second quarter of last year.


In the international market, compared with the second quarter of 2020, net sales of wholesale channels increased by 53.7 million U.S. dollars, or 88.2%, to 115 million U.S. dollars. Net sales of direct channels increased by 58.4% year-on-year, reaching US$40.7 million.


Scott Thompson, Chairman and CEO of Tempur-Sealy, said: "We are very pleased that global sales have increased by 62% even compared to 2019, which is not affected by the COVID-19."


"We are particularly pleased that this quarter' s global online sales growth achieved double-digit year-on-year growth, and offline store sales also achieved a year-on-year increase of more than 125%."
