Venture Capital Research Institute CBInsights: Report on China’s Smart Speaker Market and Business Mode

Currently, in addition to Google Home launched by Google, the Chinese smart speaker brands have been frequently launched.

Recently, the global famous venture capital research institute CBInsights has issued a research report on China’s smart speaker market and business mode.

The report indicated that Amazon led the global smart speaker market since it released the smart speaker with the built-in Alexa from 2014 to last year.

Currently, in addition to Google Home launched by Google, the Chinese smart speaker brands have been frequently launched. Baidu launched DeurOS and RavenH; Alibaba sold the smart speaker of Tmall Genie; Tencent launched TingTing, and Xiaomi and Jingdong are working hard in the smart speaker market, and Amazon is losing its market share in the smart speaker.

 

 

According to the survey data, in Q1 of 2017, Amazon accounted for 80% in the global smart speaker market; Google accounted for 19%, and Alibaba and Xiaomi accounted for 0%. By Q1 of 2018, Amazon’s global market share in the smart speaker declined to 28%; Google accounted for 36%, and Alibaba and Xiaomi accounted for 12% and 7% respectively.

According to the data of the survey company Juniper Research, China’s smart home market will reach nearly USD 23 billion in 2018. The smart speaker and AI voice assistance are becoming the indispensable part in this market. As China’s smart home market heats up, intelligent voice is also the main focus of attention of the Government of China in the first batch of intelligent application fields nationwide. China is gradually promoting the smart speaker market to develop to the direction of low cost and high production, and the old brand enterprises such as Google and Amazon are facing the tougher competitions.
