WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Commerce announced it is conducting the 12th annual administrative review on Chinese-made wooden bedroom furniture.

This annual audit determines whether Chinese manufacturers are paying the appropriate amount of duties on the category. It will analyze 2016 bedroom shipments from China.

 The review includes one mandatory respondent, Decca Furniture and 12 other manufacturers. The DOC has preliminarily determined that these 13 companies have not established their entitlement to a separate rate and are classified as part of the PRC-wide entity. The PRC or All China rate is 216%.

The government assigns duties to Chinese factories, but they are ultimately paid by importers of record for the subject merchandise. The duties aim to address the negative effects of unfair trade practices on U.S. bedroom manufacturers.

The 13 companies are among the initial 80 companies that were targeted for review. Interested parties withdrew requests to review 67 of those companies, leaving the remaining 13 subject to further review.

In addition, the DOC has found that eight of the 13 companies had no reviewable shipments during the period, meaning they would likely automatically fall under the PRC-wide entity.

Interested parties are invited to submit comments within 30 days of the Oct. 11 publication of the review notice in the Federal Register. Unless extended, the DOC plans to issue the final results of the administrative review within 120 days or four months of the Oct. 11 issuing of the preliminary review results.
