Best Buy is showcasing a hands-on display of smart home products in a model Tech Home at the Mall of America Rotunda here.

The Tech Home display, which will be up through Sept. 17, demonstrates the seamlessly connected devices and appliances that are available at Best Buy in a mock kitchen, living room, bedroom, office space and entryway. It includes gadgets from Samsung Smart Things, Netgear, Canon, Philips Hue, Qualcomm Technologies and others.

Samsung SmartThings keeps devices connected and organized in one platform and controls lights, speakers, locks, thermostats, sensors and other items via smartphone. Samsung also sells the Family Hub refrigerator that is equipped with three cameras that are accessible by smartphone app for viewing and organizing groceries.

Also on display are home comfort devices like the ecobee 3 Smart Thermostat that uses remote sensors to deliver the right temperature to each room; and smart lighting by Philips Hue and controlled by the Savant Remote, which also can program smart TVs and music on the Sonos Play 1.

Security features include the Arlo HD wireless cameras from Netgear that have two-way audio capabilities, and devices like Ring doorbell, Yale smart locks and smart garage door openers.

According to an online story by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, visitors to the Tech Home can buy any of the products they see in the display from laptops available at the site. Products can be delivered to people’s homes or picked up at the Best Buy store at the mall.
