Census Bureau Reports Furniture up 3.6% Ahead of April 2015
The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that it estimates April retail sales of $453.4 billion, an increase of 1.3% from March and 3% above April 2015 levels. The figure is an advance estimate and subject to revision.

Total sales for February through April this year were 2.8% ahead of the same period in 2015. The February to March 2016 percentage change was revised from down 0.4% to down 0.3%.
The Bureau estimated that adjusted April sales at furniture and home furnishings stores hit $9 billion, 3.6% ahead of the same month last year, and up 0.7% from March. Year-to-date through, furniture and home furnishings store sales are estimated at $33.9 billion, a 5.6% increase compared with 2015’s first four months.
