The global online market for “home décor” will experience a compound annual growth rate of 19.45 percent over the next four years, according to Sandler Research, and key players in this growth will be Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ikea and Wayfair.

For the purposes of this report, “home décor” included furniture, furnishings and other home decorative products.

 

Other prominent players in the market—according to the Global Online Home Décor Market 2016-2020 report—will be: Ashley Furniture, ATG Stores, Cabela’s, Carrefour, Costco Wholesale, Herman Miller, Home24, J.C. Penney, Otto, Sears Holdings, Target, Tesco and Walmart.

 

“Growing environmental consciousness and concern for a healthy environment have led to increased demand for eco-friendly furniture and other furnishings,” a Sandler Research analyst said in a statement. “Awareness of the effect of deforestation on climate change and the effects of toxic finishes in the air inside homes have led many furniture manufacturers to go green. Manufacturers offer a wide range of aesthetic furniture constructed using bamboo, which is stronger and harder than most other wood, including oak.”

 

In addition, e-commerce has benefited from the growth of smartphone usage—nearly 28 percent of the global population used smartphones last year—and home furniture and furnishings are important categories that have propelled the growth of the industry across regions, the report found. A significant number of retailers now conduct their business operations online, it said, and they also provide hassle free home delivery options to customers.

 

The report did find that despite the availability of numerous apps and other services online, choosing the correct product with the correct dimensions can be a concern for consumers.
