Online home furnishings resource Wayfair today reported a 76% year-over-year increase in gross sales among its five core brands during the five-day holiday Thanksgiving weekend.
The company’s brands include Wayfair.com, Joss & Main, AllModern, Birch Lane and DwellStudio.
Wayfair also reported a 51% increase during the same period in overall gross sales, which includes sales done through its third party channels, which include Sears, Staples, Walmart and others.
Among the top-selling items were upholstered headboards, swivel barstools, luxury sheet and towel set and down comforters.
In addition, the company reported that about 50% of its direct orders in the U.S. were from repeat customers and that Cyber Monday was its biggest sale day of the period. More than 80,000 orders were placed on that day alone, the company said.
“The long holiday weekend spanning Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday is typically our peak sales period for the quarter, and we were very pleased to see the continued momentum and growth this year,” said Niraj Shah, CEO, co-founder and co-chairman of Wayfair.
“We launched several new initiatives to help promote the holiday season across our brands with a particular focus on the key days including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We were thrilled to see so many new customers discover Wayfair this year and we were even more pleased by the high volume of orders from repeat customers which is a strong testament to the exceptional shopping experience that we offer every day,” Shah said.
During the holiday season, the company said that it also increased the number of items available for two-day delivery by 60%, a factor that led to increased purchases of items for hosting friends and family, officials said.
The publicly held company will release its fourth-quarter 2014 results on March 4.
