Johan Kauppi and Bertil Harström have launched a brand new furniture system, for Sweden’s Glimakra, that’s designed to reduce sound in open floor plans. With more offices heading in the no-cubicle zone, acoustics have become a real issue. Sabine aims to not only provide much needed office storage, but to cut down on the noise as well.

With integrated acoustic panels, the storage pieces offer an effective means of absorbing and reducing sound. They can even be situated to provide a bit of division in an open office.

The pressed felt shells, with sound absorbing foam, are on the outside of the furniture giving each piece a minimal gridded appearance. The slotted design allows for good sound absorption in frequencies that range from 125 Hz to 4000 Hz, while even helping in frequencies lower than that.

Sabine comes in four widths and four heights, and is available in anthracite, gray, white, and green.
