Office furniture giant HNI builds factory in Mexico
HNI still plans to continue to increase the staffing level of the company' s other major production bases in North America.
On September 2, US office furniture giant HNI announced that it will open a new office furniture production plant in Saltillo, Mexico.
The plant will provide additional capabilities to meet HNI' s growing customer demand for office seats. After approval by the regulatory authorities, this 160,000 square foot (approximately 14,800 square meter) factory is expected to employ 250 workers and will start production in the first quarter of 2022.
The plant will be located in the Mencorsa Industrial Park in Saltillo, Mexico. HNI still plans to continue to increase the staffing level of the company' s other major production bases in North America.
HNI is working with American Industries to help the former expand its business in Mexico. American Industries is a Mexican company established in 1976. It has helped more than 200 international companies successfully enter the Mexican market and develop manufacturing and distribution businesses.
HNI also works closely with the local government, which is committed to creating a good business environment for Saltillo.
"This is an important investment for HNI," said Kevin Hoban, HNI' s vice president of manufacturing. "The new equipment, labor, and supply chain capabilities we have added in Saltillo will help us cope with the growing demand. We are very pleased to work with the Coahuila state government and American Industries, and thank them for their importance to this project support."
