At Art Van Furniture’s Shining Star Event in Chicago, Nigel Barker, left, Hilary Farr, Art Van Elslander and Cindy Crawford hold up a $1 million check representing money to be awarded in charitable grants.

The stargazing was particularly good in Chicago recently.

Held at its Logan Square location, Art Van Furniture’s Shining Star Event celebrated the Top 100 retailer’s 55th anniversary, with plenty of star power and more than 700 guests.

During the event, Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture, officially announced Cindy Crawford, international supermodel, businesswoman and philanthropist, as the 2015 Art Van Charity Challenge Ambassador. In addition, the retailer said $1 million in charitable grants will be awarded next year to nonprofit organizations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

Art Van style ambassadors Nigel Barker, photographer and celebrity host of “The Face” on Oxygen Network, and Hilary Farr, international home designer and cohost of “Love It or List It” on HGTV, also took part in the festivities.
