Levin Furniture will open its first Youngstown, Ohio, market store — and its first since the acquisition by Art Van Furniture — at the end of the month.

The Smithton, Pa.-based retailer is finishing up renovation work on the 55,000-square-foot store at 300 Boardman-Poland Road, in Boardman, Ohio, located at the site of the former Goldsteins Furniture building.

It will become the first Levin location to open since the 33-store retailer was acquired, along with Bellwood, Pa.-based Wolf Furniture, by Warren, Mich.-based Art Van Furniture this past November. And it represents a new market for the retailer, roughly midway between its Cleveland and Pittsburgh markets.

Additional Levin stores are slated to open in Hermitage, Pa., in late September and in Niles, Ohio, in late October.

Festivities planned in Boardman include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., Aug. 31, with refreshments, music, prizes (including a chance to win a $5,000 shopping spree) and a showroom tour, followed by a live radio remote and other activities over the weekend.

Also on Aug. 31, the retailer will present a $2,500 check to the Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly campus.

“We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome Youngstown families to Levin Furniture’s beautiful new showroom,” Chris Pelcher, Levin executive vice president and general manager, said in a release. “We look forward to becoming immersed and involved in the Boardman community.”

Key brands the store will carry include Flexsteel, La-Z-Boy and Ashley as well as private collections including Amish Village, which is manufactured in Killbuck, Ohio, and West Coast Style and Grand Legacy, both made in the United States.

The store will employ 26 people, including many previously employed by Goldsteins, the company said.

Parent company Art Van is No. 14 on Furniture Today’s Top 100 with estimated 2017 furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $1.11 billion at all retailer banners combined.
