General Administration of Customs: China's furniture exports from January to May were 186.63 billion yuan, an increase of 52.9%

The overall growth rate of home building materials exports slowed down.

On June 7, the State General Administration of Customs announced the cumulative import and export data for the first five months of this year. The main information related to the export of the home furnishing industry is as follows:


From January to May, the export value of furniture and its parts was 186.63 billion yuan, an increase of 52.9% over the same period last year (122.06 billion yuan). Among them, the export value of furniture and its parts in May was 40.92 billion yuan, a slight increase of 1.21% from the previous month.


Except for furniture, the export value of ceramic products, lamps/lighting devices and parts, and household appliances increased year-on-year from January to May.


Among them, the largest increase was in lamps, lighting devices and their parts. The export value of the first five months was 113.35 billion yuan, an increase of 54.3%; the export value of ceramic products was 69.9 billion yuan, an increase of 41.7%; 255.47 billion yuan, an increase of 42.6 year-on-year.


Compared with last month, the overall growth rate of home building materials exports slowed down. In addition, the export value of textile yarns, fabrics and their products also showed negative growth. From January to May, the export value of this category was 364.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.3%.


From the perspective of the overall environment, in the first five months of this year, our country’s total import and export value was 14.76 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.2% and a year-on-year increase of 21.6%. Among them, exports were 8.04 trillion yuan, an increase of 30.1% year-on-year, and an increase of 23.6% year-on-year; imports were 6.72 trillion yuan, an increase of 25.9% year-on-year, and an increase of 19.2% year-on-year; the trade surplus was 1.32 trillion yuan, an increase of 56.2 year-on-year %.


In May, our country' s total import and export value was 3.14 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.9%, a month-on-month decrease of 0.4%, and a year-on-year increase of 20.8%. Among them, exports were 1.72 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.1%, a month-on-month increase of 0.2%, and an increase of 19.5% over the same period in 2019; imports were 1.42 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.5%, a month-on-month decrease of 1.1%, and an increase of 22.3% over the same period in 2019; the trade surplus was 296 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 32.1%.


In terms of international trade, in the first five months, China's imports and exports with major trading partners such as ASEAN, the European Union and the United States all increased. Among them, ASEAN is China's largest trading partner, with a total trade value of 2.19 trillion yuan, an increase of 29.2%, accounting for 14.8% of China's total foreign trade value. Followed by the European Union, the United States, Japan, and the countries along the “Belt and Road”, the total trade value was 2.06 trillion yuan, 1.82 trillion yuan, 969.79 billion yuan, and 4.36 trillion yuan, respectively, an increase of 28.7%, 41.3%, and 14.9%, 27.4%.
