Strictly supervise online sales of children's furniture

Recently, the Shanghai market supervision department concentrated on random inspections of 25 batches of children's furniture sold by many home appliance vendors, and 18 batches were unqualified, with a disqualification rate exceeding 70%.

Recently, the Shanghai market supervision department concentrated on random inspections of 25 batches of children's furniture sold by many home appliance vendors, and 18 batches were unqualified, with a disqualification rate exceeding 70%.

Since August 1, 2012, my country’s first national mandatory standard for children’s furniture "General Technical Requirements for Children’s Furniture" has been officially implemented, clarifying the national mandatory structural safety and environmental safety standards. In 2016, JD.com and China Quality Certification Center launched the industry's first e-commerce platform "Children's Furniture Quality Evaluation Standards". Brands stationed in JD.com will be subject to regular random inspections. If they fail twice, they will be removed.

However, in recent years, the results of random inspections of many products show that the quality of children's furniture sold online still exists, which has sounded the alarm for the supervision of children's products. From the perspective of consumers, parents should pay more attention when buying children's furniture for their children, but consumers are not experts after all. They have neither professional experience nor professional testing equipment, so it is difficult to distinguish substandard products.

Therefore, the risk of children's products such as children's furniture is strictly controlled by the market supervision department. First of all, children's products must have stricter quality requirements and inspection standards, and relevant regulations and standards must be improved to maximize the protection of consumer rights and children's safety. Secondly, the supervision of online sales of children's furniture should not be limited to random inspections after listing. It should start from the source. Products that have not passed the inspection are not allowed to enter the market, and various penalties are adopted to increase the illegal costs of illegal businesses. At the same time, e-commerce platforms should strengthen the supervision of merchants settled in, squeeze the market space of unqualified children's furniture to the greatest extent, and eliminate hidden product quality hazards.
