Mount Morris will carry out a lot of renovations, launch more furniture categories, and cater to more different consumer levels.

After more than 100 years of operation, the Mount Morris furniture store in New York, USA, closed on August 13 and was sold to Harding's, a furniture, flooring and mattress seller in Attica.

"This is a bittersweet day." General Manager Cheri Swarts said. "I have been working for Morris Mountain Furniture Company for 31 years, and I can't find a better company than this."

Morris Hill Furniture Company was founded in 1913 and was owned by Jim and Mary Margaret Starron and Ann Bozette before closing.

On the 16th of this month, a notice on the door of the store said that the reason for the closing of the store was that the owner wanted to retire.

On social platforms, the shopkeepers thanked consumers for their support and said that they were “happy to sell our business to another family-owned furniture store, which has many similarities with us, including commercial value and customer service.”

Harding' s is owned by Mike Harding and his family. On the 16th, Harding said they had been choosing a second store and thought Morris Hill would be suitable.

Harding said: "It's a certain distance from our flagship store in Attica, but it's not so far that we can't manage it."

"We plan to make a lot of renovations to the Morris Hill Furniture Store and introduce more furniture categories," Harding said. "We will cater to more different levels of consumption. In terms of prices, it will be higher than in the past. We will have something for everyone."

"We will keep the name of 'Morris Mountain Furniture', just because it has a century-old history, we just want to add 'Harding' in front of it."
