The input of wooden raw and auxiliary materials increased, but the sales of finished wooden products dropped sharply.
Vietnam's "Urban Economy" reported on May 28 that the prices of all wood raw materials and accessories are currently rising, with an average increase of about 10%.
Since the end of 2020, the prices of wood raw materials and accessories have risen, and there is still no sign of decline.
Many companies said that there are many reasons for the increase in the price of raw materials for wood production:
First of all, the COVID-19 epidemic has stalled many transportation routes and caused many companies to lack production materials. Secondly, most timber companies in Vietnam have not yet found an alternative source of raw materials. Third, Vietnam's export markets such as the United States and Europe are more inclined to use wood raw materials, which has soared by about 40% year-on-year.
At the same time, the sales of finished wooden products fell, down by about 80% year-on-year. There is a paradox in the wood market: Although the input of raw materials and auxiliary materials has increased, the sales have dropped sharply, and wood manufacturers have to reduce the price of finished products.
