Google’s Smart Speaker is Like A Talking “Photo Frame”

Google Home Hub

It's not a fresh concept to put a smart speaker on the screen.

At least Amazon's screened speakers have already been released, and many companies including Baidu have introduced screen-equipped products.

But Google's speaker is almost a talking "photo frame" from the inside out.

Price $149 with built-in two far-field microphones and a speaker driver.

"This shape is inspired by the design team," said Micah Collins, director of product management at Google. Both the soft curvature of the white border and the RGB color sensor built into the top are designed to better display the photo.

"The sensor automatically adjusts the brightness and temperature of the screen, allowing the entire device to blend more naturally into its environment."

In order to make the photos more user-friendly, the engineers opened up the Google Photo app with Hub and launched two new photo features for Hub - Live Albums and Recent Highlights.
