The High Point Market Authority will again challenge attendees to track their steps at market, beginning on opening day April 16, at 12:01 a.m., for the chance to win prizes. This time, the HPMA has teamed up with the new Rep4Life nonprofit, which will add its Market-a-thon participants to the challenge as well.

Developed in partnership with Matchup, the online platform that lets users of compete against each other, the fitness challenge will divide participants among several peer groups for the competition: designers, exhibitors, industry, press/media, reps, retailers, students and Rep4Life Market-a-thon participants. Participants can track their progress on the leaderboard, both through the website and the Matchup app. Those at the top of the leaderboard at the end of each day will be recognized, and the one who ultimately takes the most steps as of 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, will receive a $250 Amazon gift card.

In addition to competing for the gift card, participants will be eligible to win a combination Row GX and Life Cycle GX from Life Fitness ($4,218 MSRP), courtesy of Brunswick Billiards, which exhibits on the Suites at Market Square mezzanine, M-8007. Those at the top of the leaderboard in each peer group when the challenge closes will be placed into a drawing for this prize. The winner will be selected after market closes and announced on social media.

“With over 11.5 million square feet of showspace, this market certainly affords attendees the opportunity to do a lot of walking,” said Tammy Nagem, chief operating officer for the High Point Market Authority. “Last market, I logged 37.52 miles on my fitness tracker over six days. My biggest day was opening day, when I walked 8.31 miles, or 19,302 steps!”

Rep4Life is an Orlando-based nonprofit whose purpose is to help the traveling sales professional in times of unforeseen need. To kick-off the event, the Market Authority has donated $750 to the Rep4Life foundation.
