HIGH POINT — Full line furniture resource New Classic Home Furnishings has been awarded the Green Market Award from the City of High Point for its efficient handling of trash and recycling.
City officials presented the company the award at the company’s showroom at 135 S. Main St. The award is presented bi-annually to recognize one showroom after each High Point Market.
Officials said that a typical market generates more than 500 tons of cardboard and other recyclable materials. The City’s Public Services Department relies on showrooms to follow guidelines to ensure the collection of recycling materials runs smoothly during each market.
New Classic received the award for consistently following the City’s collection guidelines, thus “contributing to a clean and safe environment that participants have come to expect.”
“Business partners like New Classic Home Furnishings are just what the City of High Point needs,” High Point Mayor Bill Bencini said in a statement. “By properly handling their trash and recycling during Market last fall, New Classic made it easier for our Public Services Department to keep downtown clean, thereby making it a more inviting place to do business for the thousands of people who come to our city each year.”
