The Certificate for Forest Management issued to the Johor State Forest Management Unit (FMU) (SGS-MTCS/FM-0102) against the requirements of MC&I(Natural Forest) has been suspended with effect from 1 January 2016 until futher notice.
All logs sourced from the Permanent Reserved Forests in the Johor State FMU beginning 1 January 2016 will not be recognised as PEFC certified material under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme. This suspension applies until the major Corrective Action Request (CAR) is addressed and a new Certificate for Forest Management is re-issued.
The decision comes after the State failed to close a major CAR following a re-certification audit carried out by SGS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Any major non-conformity raised must be adequately addressed and closed-out before the FMU can be re-certified.(panelsfurnitureasia)
