HIGH POINT — Ekornes gave retailers reason to smile at the recent High Point market with the introduction of the StresslessYou line of recliners and sofas. It was the first launch of a collection in many years from the Norwegian designer and manufacturer of high-end seating.

“Ekornes is very methodical and purposeful in developing a new product line so this is very exciting for us,” said Beverly Kastel, marketing manager.

The StresslessYou line includes three recliners and two sofas, designed with optimum personalization in comfort and style, and each model goes by a first name -- Michael, James and John are recliners while Julia and Michelle are sofas.

Building upon the patented comfort technologies Stressless is known for, the new collection takes on a more compact and streamlined look falling in line with the urban-contemporary styling that is sweeping across furniture design, the company said.

StresslessYou combines ergonomic technologies to provide tailored comfort based on individual body weight and natural movement. The adjustable and removable head rest and lumbar support offer additional individualized comfort, and the BalanceAdapt mechanism allows the individual’s sitting angle to adjust naturally. Each seat is customizable with a selection of materials, finishes, colors and looks.

The personalized theme of the StresslessYou line was carried through in its unveiling event at market with retailers answering five questions based on personal preferences and lifestyle which then matched one of the five recliners or sofas.

Retailers did more than just smile about the introduction and event – they bought.

“We saw record breaking traffic to the showroom and received an outstandingly positive response to the new products,” said Kastel. “We were successful in placing the new line in many current dealers’ stores as well as some new locations for us. Of course, the real sign of success is when it turns on the retail floor.”

Ekornes says StresslessYou will be open for placement without restriction throughout the U.S. along with five promotions to introduce the collection to consumers in first quarter 2016.

The recliners and sofas will be shown again in Las Vegas in January for those retailers who missed it at High Point.
