To learn more about American design, 19 of China’s top interior designers spent a month learning from professors at High Point University.
The designers came from major cities all over China to learn about American design and to stimulate their creativity. While they primarily visited to study interior design, the designers have different backgrounds in fields such as real estate and furniture selling.
“They have come to America to experience American culture, to see the real American life and the interior of American houses and learn about American interior design,” said Judy Danley, instructor of Chinese and adviser for international students at HPU.
In addition to attending workshops on campus, the designers toured various mansions, historic houses and museums throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia to learn more about residential design, the history of architecture, lighting techniques and more.
HPU first hosted designers from China in May of 2013. Because the program was so successful, the university hosted another workshop this year.
