Singaporean companies have made successful inroads into the mainland, from bakery chains to massage products. A homegrown furniture and accessories design company, PLATFORM, is also winning fans in China and set to open its third retail store in Beijing this year.

Founded in 2006, the brand offers its own designs and manufactures elegant products, serving a wide clientele including residential homes, showflats, hotels, clubs, restaurants and offices.

Platform's store in Luohu shopping district offers a comfortable shopping experience.

Platform’s second store opened in Shenzhen on 1 January this year, carries a full collection of furniture, home accessories, art, lightings and a limited-edition collection. The store is strategically situated in the shopping belt of Luohu district, about 17km from Hong Kong border.

The East-meets-West concept is not new but in the right hands, it can keep cash registers busy. From Terracota warrior statuettes to bronze water lily sculptures, the wide range of products satisfies a myriad of tastes.

From Tettacota warriors to bell lights, the extensive product range offers many interesting choices for a sophisticated clientele.

Entirely hand-made using traditional craftsman methods, it is no wonder Platform's stylish yet functional products have won fans among the Chinese elite. Stringent tests ensure that the products leaving the factories are of high quality.

Complementing the brand's efforts to gain more exposure, the company has also been active on the trade show circuit. Furniture China has been an effective platform (no pun intended) for the company and they will be part of the Singapore Pavilion again in Shanghai for the third consecutive time this year.

The Singapore Pavilion at Furniture China 2015 in Shanghai has helped Platform generate new businesses.

The Singapore pavilion is organised by the SFIC, with the support of IE Singapore under the International Marketing Activities Programme (iMAP). The funding allows eligible companies to receive up to 50% subsidy on total eligible costs in space rental and stand construction.

Being the biggest market in the world, Platform sees great potential in the Chinese middle upper segment. With the numerous projects ongoing, Platform has a team that caters only to the mainland customers. The company intends to open another nine stores in China over the next three years with a special range of furniture created for the Chinese market.
