It will be officially implemented on October 1, 2021.

Recently, the General Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and the National Standardization Administration have issued a standard bulletin, which has new regulations and guidelines for the classification of formaldehyde emissions and indoor carrying capacity of man-made panels.

Wood-based panels decorated with paint, PVC and other materials are the main materials for home decoration and furniture production. In the production process of these materials, most of the adhesives containing formaldehyde are used, which brings about the problem of formaldehyde pollution.

Previously, only E1 was recognized in the formaldehyde emission standard limit of the indoor decoration materials man-made panels and products released in 2017. The formaldehyde emission classification of man-made panels and their products released on March 9, 2021 classified indoor man-made panels and products. The amount of formaldehyde released by its products is divided into three levels: E1, E0, and ENF according to the limit value, and E1 follows the previous value.

ENF means formaldehyde-free, and the formaldehyde emission standard for formaldehyde-free grade is less than or equal to 0.025mg/m³.

The newly promulgated formaldehyde emission classification for wood-based panels and their products will be officially implemented on October 1, 2021. The reporter' s investigation found that different merchants have different opinions on the formaldehyde content of sheet products on the market. Some businesses claim that their own formaldehyde content is F four-star. Some businesses claim that their own sheets are Kangchun grade with a content of less than 0.007mg/m³. Some businesses say that their products have obtained the formaldehyde-free exemption certification from other countries. Where do these claims come from, and are they credible?

Sun Shudong, deputy director of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center: F4 stars are tested for formaldehyde emission according to Japanese standards. The method is based on the dryer method, which is the same as the current domestic national standard for the climate chamber method to test formaldehyde. The method is inconsistent. The US aldehyde-free exemption certification refers to wood-based panels exported to the United States, and the adhesives used in wood-based panels are aldehyde-free adhesives. However, these two standards are standards of different countries. The wood-based panel products sold in China should meet the domestic wood-based panel emission requirements, and clearly indicate the level of formaldehyde emission from the wood-based panels used.

In addition to the new classification of formaldehyde content, the new standard also issued guidelines for the indoor load-bearing limit of wood-based panels based on the limit formaldehyde content. When decorating, the formula is used to calculate the maximum number of panels that can be used indoors. If you want to do the calculations, you can log in to the official website of the National Standards Committee, click on "public standards" under "services", select "recommended national standards", search for 39598, and click on the online preview to view the specific calculation method.

Sun Shudong, deputy director of the National Furniture and Indoor Environmental Quality Supervision and Inspection Center: This standard has certain guiding significance for choosing the appropriate proportion of wood-based panels for home decoration. Consumers can reduce the use of man-made panels, add some alternative materials, such as glass or metal materials to replace man-made panels, or choose more environmentally-friendly panels such as E0 or aldehyde-free panels to reduce home decoration. The concentration of formaldehyde.
