On January 14, the Department of Circulation Industry Development of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Building Materials Circulation Association jointly released the data of the National Building Materials Household Climate Index (hereinafter referred to as “BHI”) in December 2018. The sales of home building materials above designated size in December 2018 was 91.93 billion yuan, up 9.10% from the previous month and up 17.96% year-on-year. The accumulated sales for the whole year of 2018 was 966.16 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.32%.

 

In 2018, the market concentration of building materials and home stores gradually increased. Some traditional building materials and home furnishing markets in Beijing and Shanghai have been eliminated by the market.

 

The two leading companies in the industry, Red Star Macalline and Easyhome, have accelerated the pace of opening stores. In 2018, Easyhome opened 80 stores, with a total of 303 stores.
