China National Furniture Association, Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Elle Decoration jointly launched "Chinese Gold Idea Furniture Design Award Prize", which has achieved a perfect ending at the Designers' Night on Sept. 9!

It has been the 3rd year for The Gold Idea Award with 354 works from 109 enterprises took part in 2016.

The China International Furniture Expo has accompanied Chinese furniture industry for  22 years, and has witnessed a history of the furniture industry from "Made in China" to "China Design"; also, the China International Furniture Expo praises original designs highly while pushing China from a manufacturing power to a smart manufacturing power in terms of furniture industry, thus to support Chinese deigns to gain international reputations.

This year, the committee of the Gold Idea Award has granted its award to Dickson Furniture, which has been known for its modern and simple style of design. "I'm glad to see that  Dickson Furniture, with its production of all the creative furniture that can lead us to the future, won the gold award today", Mr. Peter Zec said during the prize-awarding ceremony. As the founder of the Red Dot Award, Mr. Peter Zec fully expressed his appreciation and fondness of Dickson Furniture, which could also represent a kind of international recognition.

There are great differences in the Award from the Committee for the Gold Idea Award this year. Formerly, everyone thought the judges' committee would have preferred Neo-Chinese Style. However, the award has been granted to the Dickson Furniture this year, which shows that Chinese designs can really compete with European and American designs in modern simple style.

2016 Best Designer of the Gold Idea Award: Frank Chou from Frank Chou Design Studio

Relying on a design perspective combining both oriental and western features, the Frank Chou Design Studio bears a background of European top-level manufacturing industry and has formed a professional team, which devotes itself to the creation of Chinese contemporary designs with a world common language.

"2016 Chinese Gold Idea Furniture Design Award Prize" is a brand new design award jointly launched by the China National Furniture Association, Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Elle Decoration, which attempts to create an international furniture design award with the same level as "Red Dot" and devotes itself to promoting original designs of Chinese furniture.
