In recent years, news about the closure of furniture enterprises has become relentless; there're online rumors that the number of furniture enterprises closed this year only in three towns of Guangdong is up to 849, which inevitably makes people suspect whether the development of the furniture industry is at its lowest. However, Wang Mingliang thinks that this is the necessary stage of industry development. "The furniture industry of China, through over 30 years' rapid development, has reached an scale of 60,000 enterprises; so to speak, the quantity and output of enterprises have been at the top of industry, and it is at the stage of scale reshuffling already."

Currently, many furniture enterprises have relatively low manufacturing level, lack of original designs, full of fake products, the quality of their products generally are not high, and the enterprises blindly compete on price to seize the market. Those enterprises will only be kicked out if they fail to transform and upgrade timely at the reshuffling stage. Reshuffling is "bloody", but it is conducive to the industry development; recent data of the furniture industry association shows that the number of enterprise above designated size has increased by 9-10%, which is a sign for benign development of industry. Wang Mingliang believes that: "reshuffling can force original designs and diversified competition and is beneficial to the transformation of labor-intensive industrial mode of China's furniture products; while transformation requires a change in the whole industry system, equivalent specialized division and combined cooperation of upstream-downstream industries."

Throughout the international market, Wang Mingliang concludes it with "rebalancing". "As the change in labor cost and market environment, a great number of China's low-end furniture production has been moved outside mainly to the Southeast Asia and several other states and regions which have lower labor cost, while the output of high-end furniture is still on the rise. Such phenomena reflect the rebalancing of furniture industry in the international market."
