Recently, Lin Zuoxin, the professor of Beijing Forestry University and Chairman of Asian Furniture Association, published an article entitled Furniture Import and Export in America, and the article pointed out that in the first half of this year, furniture import of America increased by 10% and its output also increased by 4%; China was still the biggest importing country, in which, the import quantum accounted for over 50% of total import quantum, but increasing rate of import held the line, while Vietnam and India became the focus of attention.
In the first half of this year, furniture import of America increased by 10% and its output also increased by 4%. Over the one or two years, many people highly appealed that manufacturing industry returned to America. However, the furniture manufacturing industry didn't return to America. On the contrary, its import increased year by year, and merely, different countries entered into the top ten.
China was still the biggest importing country, in which, the import quantum accounted for over 50% of total import quantum, but increasing rate of import held the line, while Vietnam and India became the focus of attention; At the beginning, Vietnam benefited from American's anti-dumping towards the solid wood furniture for bedrooms of China. After anti-dumping, nearly most orders of America were changed from China to Vietnam, and over ten years, Vietnam has already grown stably. Besides solid wood furniture for bedrooms, other solid wood furniture also developed gradually and the supply chain of manufacturing industry was also completed, where the upstream five metals, glasses and paint could also be manufactured and supplied locally. While local rubber wood priced one-third of that in China so that it developed very fast and was exported to America. Last year, the export amount of rubber wood in Vietnam reached 2.3 billion dollars, furthermore, it increased by 21% fiercely in the first half of this year. The biggest hidden concern of Vietnam was that it is located in quite moist tropic, where the woods have a quite high moisture and if they were exported to America, cracking and deformation of timbers were unavoidable.
It is also quite astonishing, India became one of the ten importing countries of America. At present, though cardinal number is small, only 150 million, its development speed is very fast increasing by 20% compared with the first half of last year. The increase of solid wood furniture for bedrooms is 12% higher than average value, and it is notably particularly that most soft roll for metal is airplane seats and car seats, which is growth point exported to America from China in recent years. Unexpectedly, wooden kitchen furniture grows up silently with a fast growth speed, which reaches 21%.
