The total output value of Italian wooden furniture reached 39 billion euros, and sales increased by 51.7% in the first half of the year
The main export countries of Italian furniture and lighting are France, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
On August 31, when the Milan exhibition is about to be held, the Italian Wooden Furniture Association (Federlegno Arredo) released the latest furniture industry report.
The report shows that the production of wooden furniture has become one of the most important manufacturing industries in Italy, with a total output value of 39 billion euros, of which 15 billion euros worth of wooden furniture is for export.
The Italian furniture industry has more than 300,000 employees and 71,500 companies, with a trade surplus of 7.6 billion euros.
In the first five months of 2021, Italian furniture and lighting exports reached 5.4 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 43.2%. Compared with the data in 2019, this figure increased slightly by 5.7%. Among them, exports to France reached 989 million euros, an increase of 53.7%, exports to the United States reached 574 million euros, an increase of 35.2%, and Germany, exports reached 556 million euros, an increase of 8.6%.
According to the association' s data, the sales of wooden furniture in the first half of 2021 increased by 51.7% compared with the same period last year, and the local sales in Italy increased by 67.3%; the sales increased by 14.3% compared with the first half of 2019, and the domestic sales increased by 21.4%.
The chairman of the association, Claudio Feltrin, said that the industry is in the midst of light and darkness, but there is still a good development. The production capacity of local industries and the ability to export to the world are still good.
