Environmentally friendly furniture manufacturer POLYWOOD invests US$61.6 million to expand North Carolina plant
POLYWOOD currently produces outdoor furniture such as Adirondack chairs made of recycled plastic in its North Carolina plant.
Recently, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that the environmentally friendly furniture manufacturer POLYWOOD will invest US$61.6 million to expand its North Carolina factory and distribution center.
POLYWOOD currently produces easy-to-maintain Adirondack chairs, outdoor furniture such as benches, swings and rocking chairs at its factory in Roxboro, North Carolina, all made of recycled plastic.
"We are very happy to expand our facilities in North Carolina," said Doug Rassi, CEO of POLYWOOD. "Polywood is very popular in North Carolina. We have been able to build an excellent workforce and look forward to continuing growth in the state."
Rassi said that the company has developed the most advanced technology and lean manufacturing processes to minimize waste and ensure that products are produced on the same day as ordered and shipped the next day.
He founded POLYWOOD in 1990. The original idea was to recycle milk cans to make plastic furniture. Today, POLYWOOD can process about 30,000 milk cans per hour, an average of more than 400,000 milk cans per day.
"It is exciting to see the rapid growth of POLYWOOD." North Carolina Senator Mike Woodard said. "Since entering the region for the first time in 2018, the company has rapidly grown into a company that deserves attention."
