According to Agence France-Presse, there has been a boom in smart home products in the European market recently. Data shows that in the fourth quarter of 2020, more than 41 million smart home products, such as smart speakers, TV sticks, smart bulbs, thermostats, etc., were sold on the European market. The overall sales of smart home products in the quarter increased by 12% year-on-year.

According to the latest data released by consulting firm IDC, one of every two smart home devices sold is used for film and television entertainment. Smart TVs and TV sticks can not only play wireless TV programs and streaming media content, but also allow customers to choose customized audio-visual media, so the sales of such smart home devices in the quarter increased by 35% year-on-year.

In addition, the quarterly sales of smart speakers increased by 12%, which, like smart monitoring equipment, smart lighting, smart thermostats and other products, continued the growth trend of the previous quarters.

In the competitive market for smart homes in Europe, Amazon continues to maintain its unshakable leadership position-in the fourth quarter of last year, it sold as many as 7.4 million IoT home appliances.

Followed by Google and Samsung, which sold 5.1 million and 4.9 million smart home devices, respectively. Sales ranked fourth and fifth are LG and Sony, with sales of 4.3 million and 1.9 million smart home devices, respectively. It is worth mentioning that, although Google's sales ranked second, its quarterly sales growth rate reached 27.4% year-on-year.

Industry insiders predict that from 2021 to 2025, the total number of smart home products sold in the European market will reach 210 million pieces, which is equivalent to the market size that will continue to expand at a rate of about 15% every year.
