IKEA built the first car-free green mall

IKEA says this will be their highly innovative and green storefront.

Ikea, which has always advocated "sustainable development", is really building a "forest mall" this time.

Near the crowded train station in Vienna, IKEA and the architectural firm Querkraft Architekten have built a 21,600-square-meter green shopping mall.

IKEA says this will be their highly innovative and green storefront.

There are also enough open spaces and places in the building where shoppers and tourists can walk and activities.

In addition to all of IKEA's home furnishing products, IKEA has also integrated other businesses into this building, hoping that it will become an open community space.

The first two floors of the building are Jo & Joe open-plan hotels that can accommodate 345 rooms. Restaurants, bars, and cafes are also available. There is a gap in the building that extends from the ground to the roof, allowing people to reach the terrace garden on the top floor. Local residents can come here for entertainment, leisure, and work negotiations.

It is worth mentioning that it is also IKEA's first car-free store with zero parking spaces.

IKEA's current shopping malls generally have a huge parking lot, but now this store can only be reached by public transportation, bicycles, scooters or walking. There is also a sidewalk with a double width on the first floor.

This is due to IKEA's consideration of the future of carless travel and the changes in people's shopping psychology.

In the furniture industry, more and more shoppers are no longer thinking about taking their products home, but are choosing to order them online at home.
