Vietnam’s VIFA Expo still on for March | Coronavirus
Coronavirus won’t delay March 11-14 show in Ho Chi Minh City
HO CHI MINH CITY – The Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories 2020 furniture trade show will run according to schedule March 11-14 at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center here.
Several Asian trade shows have postponed their regular March schedule due to the coronavirus outbreak, but VIFA organizers say the disease is under control in Vietnam and also have instituted measures during the show to help ensure participants’ safety.
They acknowledged the country’s proximity to China, “but the epidemic in Vietnam is strictly and actively controlled under government leadership, agencies, businesses and the nationwide collaboration,” a statement read. “In the government’s regular meeting on Feb. 4 … Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the steering committee on prevention of acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV) assume(d) that Vietnam is controlling the epidemic. The representative of WHO agree(s) with the measures Vietnam applies.”
Vietnam’s prime minister, Nguyen Van Phuc, will attend VIFA to lead a seminar titled “Orientation for the Sustainable and Effective Development of the Forest Product Processing Industry in 2020 & Beyond.”
