BINH DUONG PROVINCE, Vietnam – Manwah Holdings has begun construction on the expansion of manufacturing facilities here at upholstery manufacturer Timberline.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held Oct. 9 at Timberline for the construction of new factory buildings, where production is scheduled to begin in fourth-quarter 2019. Once complete, the Timberline facility will have capacity to produce around 3,000 containers a month.

The new construction will total around 2.6 million square feet of production space in addition to the existing 1.4 million square feet.

At High Point Market, Manwah dedicated around 5,000 square feet of its showroom to showcase 11 motion groups that are now in production in Vietnam, including seven or eight transferred from plants in China. The Timberline facility already has gone from 11 to 27 production lines.

“By the end of December, we’ll have capacity there for more than 500 containers a month,” said Guy Ray, CEO of Manwah USA. “Our goal by the end of March is to have 1,000 containers a month out of Timberline. We’re doing that through increasing efficiency and adding lines.”

Manwah Holdings acquired the Timberline plant in late June.
