Following on from the success of its 2016 program of furniture seminars, SGS has announced more details of its 2017 series. With events in China, Vietnam, India and France, these global events will provide attendees with the latest information on regulations and practical advice on how it will affect their businesses.

The 2017 series of seminars began in China in March, with a look at updates to the BIFMA standard. With sixteen different manufacturing companies attending the first seminar, it is anticipated that the attendance for the 2017 program will exceed the 2016 series.

Topics for consideration in 2017, include:

April – Shunde, China: Update on US Standard BIFMA

April – Vietnam: Update on Outdoor Furniture

April – India: Update on Furniture Standards

June – France: What’s new in Furniture for French retailers

June or July – Shunde, China: Update on Outdoor Furniture

End of Year – France: Electrical Furniture

Each seminar will be presented by one of SGS’s global network of experts and will provide up-to-date information and advice on the factors affecting all major furniture markets. Stakeholders can expect SGS’s global furniture seminars to provide them with an in-depth understanding of changes to regulations and standards, with particular emphasis on how they will affect their businesses.

The announcement of SGS’s furniture seminar series for 2017 follows the success of the 2016 series, during which SGS held seminars throughout Europe and Asia.

2016 SGS Furniture Seminars: A Success in France, Vietnam and China Beginning in early January, the 2016 season began in Paris with a seminar looking at numerous topics, including: the evolution of the standards EN 747 and EN 14749, REACH, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and NF D61062, a standard relating to deckchairs for French market. The themes of this seminar were then replicated in late January, in Vietnam, where the subject of deckchairs was of particular interest, since Vietnam is now the primary producer of wooden deckchairs.

The 2016 series continued with a number of seminars designed to help China’s furniture manufacturers access international markets. With an unequalled understanding of the regulations that govern global markets, SGS could provide Chinese businesses with clear insights into the revisions regarding EN 581-2 and help clarify the differences between EN 12520 and EN 1335 – a hot topic for those marketing to Spain.

The final 2016 seminar took place in Aix en Provence, France, with a look at storage furniture standard EN 14749 and national standards pertaining to durability. In addition, SGS’s experts touched upon a number of other subjects, including REACH, electrical regulations for furniture, and performance testing of products.

All seminars are led by globally recognized experts in furniture manufacture regulation and compliance, giving attendees access to the latest information on regulations and practical advice on how it will affect their business.
