From furniture to home décor and floor fashion to mattresses and other sleep introductions inspired by new technologies, the mood at Las Vegas Market is ebullient in showrooms, quite a few of which are new and expanded.

Allen Home debuted its showroom in A-920 with a blend of furniture, electric fireplace inserts and mantels, home décor, and garden and patio décor, all made by Allen Group’s full-time designers, sculptors and engineers in China. Brian Bringham, vice president of marketing and PR for Allen Home, said, “We have something for all aesthetic tastes and décor motifs from coastal and tribal to yoga/spiritual and fun animal trends and themes. We have something for everyone.”

Allen Home’s wall décor includes a wide variety of high-gloss, brightly colored resin animal sculptures, including one wall featuring a yellow rhino, green giraffe and hot pink hippo. Other African- and Indian-inspired animal sculptures feature more natural finishes that look like wood and are accented with decorative beads, stones and tribal motifs, set off with metallic accents. White ceramic décor with subtle gold accents were also peppered around the showroom, as were fun pieces inspired by sea life, including octopuses, blow fish and salmon.

Twin-Star International, also known for its electric fireplaces and ready-to-assemble furniture and entertainment consoles, introduced its Omni Series, which includes furniture that weighs less than 150 pounds, can ship in one box and is all shippable via UPS small parcel. Twin-Star has also added extra protective packaging to ensure safe shipping. The Omni Series is on display in a new extension to Twin-Star’s showroom in A-1016.

One-of-a-kind home décor and accent furniture were on display in abundance in the Phillips Collection showroom, including the Tamarind Root Sculpture and the dramatics glass-top coffee table with a mai theng burled-wood base. Expanding on the skinny sculpture theme, Phillips introduced some new ones of varying sizes and made of different materials, including the tabletop Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil sculpture designed by Raymond Waites. Demonstrating that coastal themes still have legs, albeit with a more modern flair, Phillips bowed two Schale tables with glass tops, stainless steel legs and driftwood inspired frames—one for dining and the other a coffee table.

In rugs, natural fibers and textured designs again take center stage, along with indoor/outdoor collections such as nuLoom’s “Micro,” a printed design featuring an abstract and distressed botanical montage. “Paint,” a series of abstract machine-made weaves comes in a bright multicolor design and moody blue. Momeni’s indoor/outdoor tight-weave Dakota collection includes five color patterns, including one in charcoal with a traditional kilims flatweave motif and others in beige and blue oushak patterns, all of which are machine made in Turkey.

Sleep Technology

Technology is a major focus at some major mattress showrooms here at market. Serta put the spotlight on its Sleep GPS, an application that tracks how long you sleep and the quality of your sleep, and makes recommendations on your sleep patterns. Simmons offered the Sleeptracker, a device with two sensors that track the sleeper’s heart rate, breathing and full body motion while sleeping, and provides daily updates through a smart-phone application. The company also previewed Beautyrest Silver, its relaunch of the Recharge program with foam infused with silver, which provides cooling and antimicrobial properties— which will be fully on display at the January 2017 market. Therapedic’s new Bravura mattress line is made with copper-infused talalay latex foam, which is hypoallergenic, and according to the company improves circulation, reduces wrinkles and acts as an anti-inflamatory for people suffering from arthritis and bursitis. The Tempur-Pedic brand of Tempur Sealy highlighted its Breeze technology, which provides extra breathability on its mattress fabrics, which is now available on the brand’s Tempur-Cloud, Tempur-Contour and Tempur-Flex lines.
