More than 120 home textiles suppliers from China, Turkey, India, Pakistan and elsewhere opened their stands yesterday at the Home Textiles Sourcing Expo here at the Javits Convention Center.

The three-day show runs in conjunction with Texworld and the Apparel Sourcing Expo under the organization of Messe Frankfurt. More than 800 exhibitors in total are showing this week at what is the 17th edition of the show.

Opening ceremonies, held Tuesday morning in the Javits lobby at the entrance to the show, featured welcoming remarks from Messe Frankfurt USA president Dennis Smith as well as officials from both the Chinese consulate general in New York and CCPIT, the trade association representing Chinese textiles suppliers.

Smith, in referencing the extensive network of textiles shows around the world organized by Messe Frankfurt, told the audience, “Textiles is our passion, but it’s also our business.”

A ceremonial ribbon cutting officially opened the show.
