The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, is calling for entries for a new award that will encourage and reward the export efforts of UK furnishing manufacturers.The Export Award, which was launched yesterday (4th July), is open to any furnishings company, including bedding, flooring and furniture, that manufactures in Great Britain.

According to data from The Office of National Statistics, the United Kingdom has a balance of trade deficit of £3.3b. Recognising the need to help repair the UK’s balance of trade, The Furniture Makers’ Company will acknowledge companies currently excelling in export and promote them through the new award as an example to others.
