MEXICAN FURNITURE INDUSTRY HIT BY CHINESE IMPORTS

According to a report by El Economista, the Mexican wood furniture industry’s turnover decreased by 9% in 2014. The industry association Asociación de Empresarios del Mueble y la Madera blames imports of Chinese furniture.

MEXICO : According to a report by El Economista, the Mexican wood furniture industry’s turnover decreased by 9% in 2014. The industry association Asociación de Empresarios del Mueble y la Madera blames imports of Chinese furniture. 


US. Retailers import these furniture items and sell at low prices to consumers thus causing a 30% dip on sales of Mexican made furniture. The downtrend began 2012 and is hindering the industry, with mostly (90%) small companies.
